OVERVIEW

There is a fundamental lack of awareness of Civilian career opportunities within the Department of the Army. As a result, it is challenging to source candidates to fill Civilian positions.

Our goal was to develop an experience on GoArmy.com that would increase brand awareness of Army Civilian Careers by 10%.

CREATE

We designed a 0-1 subdomain of GoArmy.com to inspire, inform, and connect candidates with hiring managers.

Step 1

Define who we are creating for, and the purpose of the site experience.

We learned from research that the target audience for the site, adults 18-40, are interested in understanding opportunities for growth, meaning, balance and benefits when considering a new career.

Step 2

Convey opportunities for growth and meaning by highlighting current Army Civilians and their stories.

Step 3

Establish information architecture and content strategy for all pages to be findable and informative for users.

Step 4

Leverage existing GoArmy design system and document component modifications needed to design pages that are on-brand, engaging, and inspiring.

ITERATE

We conducted in-depth interviews with users to test for content comprehension and ease of navigation.

We observed real users interact with our designs to identify problems and uncover opportunities for improvement.

Step 1

Prototype designs to use as stimuli for usability testing.

Prototyped all pages of the subdomain for users to interact with during a moderated interview.

Step 2

Identify problems and uncover opportunities for improvement.

We learned that our users have preconceived notions and lingering questions about working for the Department of the Army, which led to the following pain points:

Step 3

Improve designs based on data.

Step 4

Collaborate with tech and marketing science teams to prepare the live site.

Worked with a cross-functional team to update our design library and prepare for site development.

RESONATE

A subdomain of GoArmy.com that will increase brand awareness for Army Civilian Careers by inspiring, informing, and connecting candidates with hiring managers.

ArmyCivilianCareers.com is set to launch in May, 2025. We established a measurement plan using adobe analytics and medalia to track success metrics. Stay tuned for stats post-launch.
