Army Civilian Careers

Overview

There is a fundamental lack of awareness of Civilian career opportunities within the Department of the Army. As a result, it is increasingly challenging for the various commands and hiring authorities to source candidates to fill Civilian positions.

Goal

Develop an experience on GoArmy.com that will increase brand awareness by 10% for Army Civilian Careers. Provide inspirational and informative content, and enable users to connect with hiring managers.

Create

We learned from research that the target audience for the site, adults 18-40, are interested in understanding opportunities for growth, meaning, balance and benefits when considering a new career.

Based on that information, we pitched two creative concepts that would help us define our visual direction and tone of voice. We moved forward with option 02, "Grow With Purpose."

I created lo-fidelity wires for approval, which we used as our foundation to bring all subdomain pages to the next level.

Iterate

Once we had hi-fidelity wires, we conducted in-depth interviews to test for content comprehension and ease of navigation with real users. From those interviews, we Identified three areas for improvement and updated our designs accordingly:

  • User Path - Navigating the site isn't as intuitive as it should be.

  • Comprehension - Users need more information to consider pursuing a career as an Army Civilian.

  • Expectations - The experience is inconsistent with what users expect from a careers site.

Resonate

ArmyCivilianCareers.com is currently being developed by our tech team and is scheduled to launch in March 2025. Stay tuned for impact measurements.
